Following completion of the Compu-Consults series, it became clear that for certain disorders, there was a need for patients themselves to become aware of how a specialist would advise a family practitioner regarding the management of their particular problem. Simply stated, it was recognized that patients might benefit from a "second opinion" but one that could be obtained without offending the sensitivities of their primary care physician. For these disorders, the programs have been 'translated' into lay terms and are now available as Compu-Consults "Doctor to Doctor and You".

It is important to note that the authors of these programs were selected on the basis of their knowledge in their fields and their reputations as excellent communicators of that knowledge. All the principle authors are clinician/scientists and have no affiliation with the Pharmaceutical Industry or special interest groups. Thus, unnecessary (and often costly) drugs and tests are avoided and only that management which will lead to optimal patient care is advocated.
